Getting The Green Light was the theme for the 1999 Conference.

On March 13, 1999, Reel Sisters brought together a panel of prominent women producers to offer strategies and options for securing and negotiating film production deals. The panel included Helena Echegoyen, the Executive Producer of love jones and a producer at Motor City Films; Nina Henderson, Vice President of BET Starz3!; Pearlena Igbokwe, Vice President of Original Programming at Showtime; and Lynora Miller, a representative from Bill Duke's Yagya Productions. Carol Jenkins, a former local newscaster, moderated the panel.

Renowned entertainment attorney, Lisa E. Davis, of Frankfurt, Garbus, Klein & Selz, led a workshop on film financing. Davis has brokered successful financial film deals for such filmmakers as Spike Lee and Chris Cherot. Another workshop, "Promoting and Marketing African American Films," featured Kathryn Bowser, Vice President, Administration and Founding Partner, of the KJM3 Entertainment Group.
